Some important points about the public information provided herein:
  • Contributions over one hundred dollars are public information. Unlike other cities and counties, this information is only provided in paper format. I did the data entry so I will make no claims to it's perfection other than I did the best I could to enter the information correctly. Some addresses (Hollister Ranch) don't show up on GPS Data and Post Office Boxes were placed at the physical address of the post office (i.e. 836 Anacapa Street).
  • I rounded off street address numbers to the hundreth in most cases and chose to leave out names for contributions under $1000 as I don't believe in "outing" contributors or providing free information to unscrupulous marketers or political consultants. The intention was to create a visual representation not call attention to specific individuals.
  • I did choose to include business, campaign committee and PAC names as I think this information is important and they were generally the contributors of over a thousand dollars in this election.
Methodology and Disclosure
I want to point out a few things about my methodology as I feel they speak to my intentions and what went into this project. First for the full disclosure -- I used to work for the Mayor at City Hall and have served as her campaign manager in past elections. For personal reasons, I chose not to do that this year. This project in no way is an attempt to call attention to the Mayor or any Council Member or candidate. I chose to do this in hopes of creating a visual creation of fund that were raised in this election.
